Tragic Road Death

Jessica Iddon, who was just 17 & lived in Darley Dale, died on Monday, June 2, as a result of a road traffic accident on June 1st.

The former Chesterfield girl’s funeral took place at the town’s crematorium on Thursday, June 12, followed by a party to celebrate her life at The Pump in Barlow.

The funeral procession was led by a horse drawn carriage.

Devastated mum Lindsey Adderson told the Derbushire Times Jessica’s death was the family’s ‘worst nightmare’ but she was determined to focus on the postive aspects of her daughter’s life.

She said: “Jess was an incredibly bubbly happy person. She was beautiful and intelligent — she had everything going for her.”

Jessica had registered as an organ donor six weeks before the fatal collision on the B5057 at Stone Edge near the Red Lion pub last Sunday at around 4pm.

Mrs Adderson of Old Hackney Lane, Darley Dale, urged any witnesses to contact the police.

She said: “My daughter has been robbed of her life and I want some answers.”

Jessica, who had only moved to Darley Dale with her family six months before the accident had spent most of her life living in Somersall.

She was taking A-levels in English literature, psychology, maths and history at Tupton Hall School, planned to go to university and wanted to become a journalist.

The teenager owned six horses, took Thai boxing classes, and enjoyed spending time with her young cousins.

Mrs Adderson (40) said her daughter was full of life and loved to sing and dance. She added: “I’ll remember her running through a field in her pyjamas, jumping on a trampoline, and singing in the shower in morning.”

Jessica leaves behind mum Lindsey, dad Christopher Iddon (40), stepdad Adrian Adderson (39) and brothers Callum Iddon (14) and Jake Adderson (14).
